Jonathan Batista
From Brazil to ballet stardom
Jonathan Batista, a principal dancer with the Pacific Northwest Ballet, has come a long way since his days training in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Batista began his ballet training at a young age, and his talent was soon evident. He trained on scholarship at the English National Ballet School and attended summer courses at Miami City Ballet and The Royal Ballet School.
In 2012, he joined the National Ballet of Canada as an apprentice, and the following year he joined Boston Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet.
Batista is not only a talented dancer, but he is also passionate about sharing his love of dance with others. He serves as a guest ballet master, private mentor, and choreographer for dance conventions and competitions across the U.S. with his project “Master Classes on Tour.”
